Tuesday was the briefing of Creative Approaches to Fashion. This module is more directed towards my personal preferences when it comes to fashion. It’s more experimental and focussed on lots of drawing and research, which I find more enjoyable in terms of developing ideas and being a bit more creative. We started with a group discussion of our summer work, this was a bit scary to start with as we were put with people we haven’t previously spoken to but a good opportunity to speak to someone new and share ideas as well as gaining a bit of confidence. As a group we also brainstormed on ideas about research, which is a major part when developing concepts and ideas for a final outcome. The rest of the session was spend familiarising ourselves with the brief and looking at a powerpoint presentation on illustration. This is personally one of my favourite areas and made me excited to experiment with new techniques and ideas in the next couple of days of private study. I’m going to aim to play with line, proportion, composition, angle, movement, use of different media and technique, colour layering and mark making etc to come up with something different from what I had done before at college last year. Illustrators that caught my eye in the session were Rainer Stole, Kareem Lliya, Carlos Aponte and Gustafson.
